Project HOPE is a participatory public art project built around a simple idea: one small action can contribute to something much larger.
On National Voter Registration Day 2026, 15 community colleges across the country brought the project to life on their campuses. Each school received a large-scale phrase installation, including HOPE AS A VERB, LOVE AS A VERB, JOY AS A VERB, CARE AS A VERB, and VOTE IS A VERB, along with dove stencils that invited students to become part of the work.
As people added one dove at a time, individual marks grew into a flock. The finished installations became a visual reminder that participation works the same way: one person, one action, one contribution can become part of something much larger when others choose to show up too.
Created in collaboration with National Voter Registration Day and supported by the Levi Strauss Foundation, Project HOPE uses public art to make participation visible and turn shared spaces into places for connection, conversation, and action.

On National Voter Registration Day, students across 15 community colleges added their doves to Project HOPE installations, turning individual participation into a collective visual.
Project HOPE merch carries the message beyond the wall and into everyday life, creating another way to make hope visible.
A reminder that hope is not passive. It is something we practice, share, and carry forward.
